Advocating for Route 228 Corridor Improvements - Freedom to Freeport
Join
us in advocating for the improvement of the East-West Route 228/Freedom
Road Upgrade ultimately extending from Route 65 in Freedom, Beaver
County to Route 28 (via Route 356), Freeport area in South
Eastern Butler County.
This corridor is a pathway to growth and opportunity.
While it runs through Cranberry Township, now the
home of Westinghouse Electric's World Headquarters, and at the midpoint
of the Pittsburgh-Cleveland "Tech Belt" it connects three counties, two
interstate highways, and dozens of communities. Its safety, improvement
and expansion is vital to the economic health of Southwestern
Pennsylvania.
Major
improvement plans have been proposed over the years only to
become stalled by budgetary constraints or by challenges of working
through fragmented municipalities and jurisdictions, yet the
development has not. Each year, more and more people travel this
corridor to their jobs, to shopping and to their homes. Hundreds
of children board and ride school buses that travel this congested
road. It's not a matter of whether the improvements are
needed or not but rather how quickly can the improvements be made.
This
web site provides you, the business owner, concerned citizen or
other interested party with the tools, information and contacts
needed to voice your opinion and support for various corridor
improvement projects. We need your help in moving projects forward
so that the entire region will benefit from the growth and development
that is happening here in our region, right now and in the very near
future.
